innovo specialises in delivering results in a range of project areas, using its a2g methodology. This seven-step approach to project delivery ensures that your needs are understood, options considered and that a tailored, relevant solution is presented and implemented.
Assess
innovo starts by investing the necessary time with you to understand your objectives, the key issues and any likely "roadblocks" that may cause problems and delays along the way. It's our belief that, too often, projects fail to deliver the required outcome because the hard work was not done up front.
As has been said of many occasions - it's hard to get to the right destination if you don't know where you are going at the start of your journey.
Brainstorm
This phase is the blank canvas where "almost anything goes". This is where imagination becomes a critical attribute of the process.
At this stage of the project, innovo will meet with stakeholders, experts and colleagues with a view to fleshing out all options, no matter how useful / relevant / appropriate they might appear at the time. As ideas are presented and explained, your innovo consultant will facilitate the discussions to ensure that every option & idea has been fully captured.
The only rule in the brainstorm phase is that no-one is allowed to say "but that's not the way we do things around here".
Consider
Once brainstorm has taken place, we will have collected a number of ideas, ranging from the very useful to the downright pointless. It is at this point that each option is considered - a new process, a system enhancement, a web design, maybe a tailored education program.
Whatever has been presented and considered will now be either taken forward or discarded. This may result in more than one workable solution being developed further in preparation for the decide phase.
Decide
To some extent, this is "crunch time".
Depending on the number of workable solutions brought forward from consider, this could be the easiest or the most complex phase of the project.
To achieve this, there will typically be a workshop / conversation with the key stakeholders, with the outcome of this phase being a very clear statement of what will occur, when it will occur and who will be responsible for each step of the journey.
It should be recognised that, at this point of the methodology, it may be decided that the project will not proceed any further. This is a valid and appropriate outcome of the process - sometimes it's better not to make a change to a process if risks and other factors are telling us that it's better to continue with existing processes, systems and procedures.
Execute
This is where the "rubber hits the road" - the execution of the chosen solution(s).
In this phase, innovo will take the role of implementation manager, ensuring that deadlines are met, stakeholders are informed of progress and that ultimately, the solution meets the requirements as outlined in assess.
Depending on the size and complexity of the project, it is likely that this phase will be the longest in duration - from a matter of days to, potentially, a number of months or longer.
Finalise
Again, this phase often gets forgotten - the project has been completed, the solution has been delivered and everyone can now move onto the next issue to be addressed. Finished - right?
Wrong!
This phase will include a review of the project, checking that objectives have been met and ensuring that the project sponsors are happy with the outcomes. Recalling the travel analogy from assess, until we look back down the road we've driven, we can't be sure that we've ended up in the right place.
Depending on the project, this phase may not be completed until some time after the completion of execute (e.g. a review three months after implementation).
Go!
Now, we are finished ... the project has been successful, everyone can now celebrate what we have achieved. |
