When not working, Neil enjoys most sports, with a particular interest in junior sport. He has been a state finalist in the AFL Victoria Coach of the Year Awards. He has taken an active role in the coaching and management of football, cricket and hockey teams in which his two children play. He has also played an active role in the life of his children's primary school, having been a School Council member for over seven years and president for three and a half years.
Neil is an accredited Level 1 coach in AFL Auskick, Youth Football, Cricket and Hockey under the National Coaching Accreditation Scheme. He is also accredited cricket umpire.
Neil also presents Radio Ga Ga on community radio 3WBC (Whitehorse Boroondara in Melbourne's eastern suburbs) and works as an associate producer on the youth affairs program "Your Planet Needs You" on the same station.
